<--- NOT ME!
That is, however, a picture of a gestational sac. Similar to the one Matt and I (thankfully) saw in my very own uterus yesterday. My appointment last Thursday was pretty disappointing. My doctor was discouraged that she couldn't see a gestational sac and she thought she should have been able to. So, she took my blood (this was Thursday) and told me to get my labwork done Saturday as well. Monday she said they would call me. I thought that mostly they were checking to see if the hormones were raising normally. Which, they were. But, when I got the call Monday morning at 10:00am the conversation went something like this: "Your numbers are doubling normally but we need you to come in right away because this is highly suspect for an ectopic pregnancy." What!?
She said that since my hormone levels were already so high that she should have been able to see something during the last sonogram, but she didn't. So the nurse told me to go give blood again and get to the office by 11:15. Well, I am carless and on campus. I called Matt - actually I sent him a message that said, "Call me asap." So I told him and he starts the process of trying to leave school. And I start the process of trying to find a ride. I get ahold of Ceci and she comes and gets me and drives me to the lab and then to the doctor. Matt met us at the doctor and thankfully Noah was able to entertain us while we waited...and waited.. to be called back. Around 11:30ish we do get called back and we wait and wait. After what seems like forever the Dr. comes in - explains everything again - and says if she doesn't see anything right now we need to "discuss our options."
So, sonogram again. Matt hand holding, my breath holding... and the doctor's "Oh good!"
There was our gestational sac!!!
I would like the rest of this pregnancy to not be so dramatic.
But, in other news, Matt and I both feel like we can be really excited now! I was excited before - but I was so worried that it was hard to give myself fully to it. But now... it's in the uterus! Whoo!
Dr. Binford said my uterus is slightly tilted to the left (a common occurrence in women) which may be why I feel more pressure on that side than the right. She said as the baby grows eventually the uterus will tilt forward and all will be well.
We are: so thankful!
My next appointment is Dec. 9th. We are going to tell the fam over Thanksgiving I believe.
Hopefully I'll get to take home a picture on the 9th and I can show it to you. Although - it will mostly be a little bean blob...
But we love that little bean blob!
