Z words and a fairy

Here are some of Z's new words:

shoes! she says it so funny... without opening her mouth really. She really focuses in on the "sh" noise and ignores the oe all together.

bubbles - obsessed. with. bubbles.

up - she will say up to mean up, but usually only after we say it first. She'll make her little grunting "i want" noise with her arms up in the air, or patting a chair she wants to sit in and if you say, "do you want up?" she'll say back, "up!"

and still baby and dog. she uses dog for almost all animals and baby for almost all humans under the age of 16. matt and i talked about it and we've decided this means she is a genius because she is grouping things. she never calls an animal a baby and she never calls a human a dog. all animals are dogs and all things with baby fat are babies. amazing.

We went trick or treating last night. Z picked up the drill really fast. Wait at the magical door, someone opens it and holds candy out to you. Grab and throw into bag. Wave bye bye, turn around, go to next door, repeat. She had amazing endurance. She insisted on walking about the entire block and also on carrying her own bag. Only, she couldn't carry it, so she just grabbed on of the straps and drug it along beside her. We were all convinced she was going to get a hole in it - but we really couldn't get her to do anything else with the bag. Oh well. She would hold it inbetween her legs sometimes too.. I'm not sure what her reasoning was here, but oh well. She can trick or treat however she wants!

She did ride in a wagon for about 5 minutes, but even though our friend's dad wheeled her right up to someone's front door, she still wanted to get out to grab her candy.

There were a couple scary things I didn't let her do. One was a haunted house -- someone had made their garage into a scare factory. It was dark and had moaning things in it- so I didn't want her to go in there. Another house had zombies in the front yard (really, quite well done for halloween) but I didn't let her go get candy from the zombies. I'm a fan of happy, fun halloween -- not scary, creepy halloween. Besides, kids probably keep images in their head starting sometime soon and I wasn't sure if when she went to bed she'd think about those scary things she saw. I know, I know, how does she know they are scary? well, there is a huge difference between a happy little winged fairy and a person covered in fake blood, making scary faces, not respecting personal space and staggering around a yard. Very different. Fairies only for my kid.

All in all, a wonderful night. I havent been trick or treating in years and it was fun to see our huge city feel so small town. And we passed a couple kids dressed as avatars. rockin.

p.s. i know, i know. in the words of christine, "could her costume get any girlier?" :)

sister, you did a good job of keeping her bow in for all pictures... or was she too distracted with candy to pull it out? :)
