Recital

It happened. Zoe and Ana were -in- a -dance- -recital.-

I was so nervous about Ana. I didn't want her to 1. all of a sudden have a meltdown or 2. realize at some point just how. many. people. were watching her.

But she did GREAT! I am/was so impressed with how brave the girls were. They just got on stage and did it. And they had SO much fun with the whole production. (except maybe the make up - they didn't enjoy my brushes and having to spend so much time in the bathroom getting ready)

We weren't sure if Zoe was going to keep staying in dance. I'm okay with the girls having one activity that they do (outside of swim, which they will keep doing because, you know - water safety). Ana wants to play soccer in the fall but after this recital Zoe told me she wants to be in "ALL THE DANCES!!!" She also told me that the recital was magic. "It was real momma. I could feel it - there were lights on me and it was so much fun and I could feel magic..."

For as crazy as all the hand outs were about this recital - it turned out to be just fine. I'm thinking now a lot of the craziness had to do with the fact that a lot of dancers at this school are in multiple dances/multiple costumes/etc. There is probably a lot of organizing going on for them. For the 5 little girls in Zoe and Ana's class - not so much.

I'll tell you who l.o.v.e.d the recital - BEN! He sat happily on my dad's lap for more than an hour just totally in a trance with all the dances. I'm sure the bright background and fun music and costumes helped but seriously - he was one still 2 year old.

Who know who else felt really comfortable at the recital? Jack. So comfortable in fact that he exploded his poopy diaper right as we were about the leave. Between getting the girls ready, timing my pumps, bringing our two year old, wading through all the people, the poo-splosion - let's just say Matt and I were working hard on recital day.

Now that the recital is over - we are just summering :)

Too young to splash.
