But! That being said, it was a blast after we made it there.
First stop: family picnic/bbq at Dad's. I love watching Z interact with her cousins, especially Amon who is almost exactly one year older than her. His first interaction with her involved running straight up to her, hugging her and putting his face against hers. She looked overwhelmed, but deserved this invasion of personal space in response to her every day interactions with her B.F.F. Link.

After most everyone left, true to Ft. Worth form, there was a giant storm and we had to check for tornados since I think we figured out we were in a tornado warning. The sky wasn't that green though. But ah, the memories of childhood.
We spent the night at Dad's (unprecedented) and Z went down great. In fact, at one point I just asked her, "Zoe, do you want to go to bed?" She answered, "yeah" and started hugging everyone night-night and went back to the bedroom we were sleeping in without any more prompting. We sang a couple songs and then she asked, "bed?" So we plopped her down and settled in to watch Jurassic Park. (good. times.)
We spent the morning chilling with Dad and then took a giant nap, which rocked. Then off we went to the botanical gardens to meet with my sister's friend's sister, Jennifer who had found out I was pregnant from Kim's facebook and offered to take some maternity pics - free to the izzle. God is so good! We got amazing family photos for FREE!
Here are a few of my fav. I'm obsessed with the ones of Z. She is SO BEAUTIFUL! I always knew it, but the joy, love, wonder captured on her face in some of these pics melts my heart! And the one of her with Daddy is perfection.
Thank you Braly Studios in Ft. Worth! You rock my socks off.

And a special shout-out to Tia Kim, without whom this photo shoot would have been impossible. She entertained the tired, hungry chicken (who had an extremely wet diaper the whole time, mom-fail) for a long time in order to make these photos possible. Thank you sister!!!!

Now, one more trip to the beach and then it's baby time. yay!
