A room for #2

It has always been our plan for Z and #2 to share a room. We both feel like it is a pretty good lesson to learn about sharing and our house isn't very big and we greatly value our visits from Tia and Mimi during which we get giant breaks and we want them to be comfortable in their own room with their own bed! Therefore, the girls will share the nursery. It may not be easy, but it'll work out somehow. I'm not worried about it.

That being said, I have had a newborn before and I know a lot better what I can expect of said newborn and her sleeping (awake?) patterns. Therefore, we can't put the newbown in Z's room until she gets sleeping down, probably not until 6 months ish if we're lucky. For Z, it took 9 months to sleep through the "night" (at least a 8 hour stretch). But, this makes sense because when you are nursing you have to be up anyways and it used to be soooo painful to stumble down the hallway and sit in the rocker in Z's room, listenning to her sleeping music and stay awake trying to get her to nurse back to sleep. A plus side to this is that a newborn pretty much sleeps anywhere. Z slept through Matt and my dad putting laminate down in our house... pounding, hammering... didn't phase her.

So, all that to say, #2 will be with us for awhile. But this created a dilemma, what to do with all her stuff? I can't keep her clothes, pajamas, diapers, spit up cloths in Z's room because we wouldn't have access to them between the hours of 7p and 8:30a or between 1p and 3p each day. So, here I introduce to you the make shift nursery:

This is at the end of our bed. There are bins in the bottom two shelves which currently house her newborn clothes, nightgowns and also 0-3 month clothing. We also have burp cloths, diapers, blankets, lanolin and nursing pads. I'm getting the rest of the baby stuff from Amira some day soon and will be able to complete the ensemble. It still needs a blanket so we can change her on top of the shelf, her name banner, and the bear blanket on the back of the chair... but other than that. Mostly complete.

As far as sleeping, meet #2's bed for as long as she fits in it:

This swing is courtesy of Miss Claire (our last one came from another family at church). Much more than a swing it also doubles as a bassinet and baby constrainer so that I can deal with the other baby if need be.
We'll be putting her in the pac n play once the swing no longer works, but until then we didn't see the need for both of them in our room. Besides, the swing has fleece and we keep our house freezing so it's probably better.

And finally, meet Matt after coming home from a dodgeball tournament with the youth:

Love him!
