Nature Day

Much of today at MJs was devoted to enjoying nature.

First we found a little friend that Zoe had no fear of what-so-ever. We first saw him on the window but that wasn't good enough for Z. She wanted to run outside immediately and get closer to him. She asked me to go with her but, like a good mom teaching my child to enjoy God's creations, I said "no way! Those things creep me out! But you can go outside if you want..." And so chick did.

He started out completely brown on top of the table. But at the sight of Zoe he dodged down onto the table leg.

Here she is in the act of getting *closer.*Eek.

Close up.

Back inside.

Annnnd outside again.
This episode also really outed me as a girl - only - had - a - sister - don't - have - any - boys kind of mom. Zoe asked me what it was and I really didn't know! I said "well, it changed color so I guess it's a chameleon? Or, a lizard? Or.. maybe a lizard IS a chameleon?" (Seriously. This was my answer.)

And so, upon further research, I think it is a gecko, which is a type of lizard that can change colors. Also, if you google "geko" (which is how you first think you spell gecko) a ton of car insurance links come up. Useless.

Then during lunch we had a great show of squirrels (4 total) and tons of birds.

Ana really got into this one.

Endless enjoyment

Rendered speechless. (easy if you don't have any words, just sounds, to begin with)

Little loves...

And so, I am further convinced that having a yard will bring me great amounts of happiness. And by happiness I mean "distractions to occupy my children."

Remember when Florence Elementary released a bunch of geckos in the school? They are supposed to be good insect control.
