Week 6, Day 5

Matt and I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday informing our families about the little bean! (And some of our family had some informing of their own to do...)

The day we told Debbie, Matt's aunt Kathy called and told Debbie that Beth is pregnant (a cousin). So now, Beth, Therese and I are all pregnant in the Smith/Ryniker clan. Needless to say there is great cause for excitement. We recorded some responses so hopefully I can upload the videos. Also some pictures. I can't find the cd with my sister's recording on it - but once found rest assured it too will be added to the blog.

In other baby news - at week 7 the baby is about the size of a blueberry! Right now the liver is creating red blood cells for the teeny tiny body - until bone marrow can take that job! And to directly quote from babycenter.com, "Your uterus has doubled in size in the past five weeks, and eating may feel like a chore — or worse — thanks to morning sickness, which by now may be in full swing." - The only redeeming quality about this statement is that by Wednesday (official week 7) my "morning (/all afternoon/all evening/all night) sickness" will be in "full swing" and hopefully that means no longer getting worse? It's been on a steady incline since last Tuesday - and eating does indeed feel much (much!) like a chore.

Our next appointment is December 9th at 3:30p. Matt's school schedule allows him to leave early that day - so we'll both be there to see the little bean in the flesh!

So, we decided to tell Doug and Debbie before Thanksgiving (1. because it turned out that there might be quite a few people at the table and I didn't think I could handle all the attention/excitement at once and 2. because with the getting sick I wasn't sure I could hide it from Debbie...). We played it off like we wanted to take pictures of our whole vacation - so as we sat down to eat Matt took pictures and for this one said "Say Cheese...no, say Mandy's Pregnant!" - They didn't know they were being video taped. ;)

Okay, rewatching the video - Matt's parents seem a lot more angry than happy. But they WERE happy and not at all angry - except they really thought Matt was lying. Doug says, "I can tell by the look on her face, YES!" and Debbie yells, "MANDY!" - which both seem sort of angry - but really, really they weren't. They were in shock.. and like I said, convinced that Matt was lying. p.s. make sure you focus in on Debbie and the jaw dropping frozen silence... its all too funny!

For Kim we made cookies. :)

And Dad got a Grandpa pie (peach of course)!
