p.s.

There is a statistic from The Week (taken from The Washington Post - I think.. I'll have to check) - that of the pregnancies in which Downs Syndrome is diagnosed in the womb - 90% end in abortion.

Just to put in perspective: the test we had done at our 12 week sonogram was the non-invasive one done to predict Downs Syndrome. This test can only be done between weeks 11-13 - another test - the invasive one - usually done in a higher risk pregnancy (as in - those with a higher chance of having a Downs baby) are done even later in pregnancy.

Therefore - those abortions are done on a baby that looks like our baby - formed face, formed brain, a spine, hands, feet, fingers, toes, heart, and making movements completely on its own that I could in no way control.

If you ask me, that baby is a PERSON! Not just a clump of cells. It's exciting to have more context and personal experience to bring that conclusion.
