A chicken's holiday

I haven't blogged in so long! Holidays and Matt's super vacation made me feel lazy, and then cedar in Austin made me feel ill so I've been far from the blog.

Z had a great Christmas! We spent Christmas morning at home, with just our little family which was absolutely perfect. It was a good way to protect our time together during the really busy season of parties and family get togethers. It was also the very first christmas we ever spent at our own home! No flying to Egypt, no driving 5 or 6 hours across Texas... perfect!

Last year, although Z defintely got into Christmas, this year she understood that in those silly looking packages toys were hidden. She stacked up all her gifts (a lot were from other people, we only got her one thing...) and preceded to open them! She had a fun time. Momma and Daddy got her a Zoe sized baby stroller and after she opened it, she walked to edge of the couches and said, "bye!" and took off for a stroll. It was so funny!

We drove to Aunt Kim's Christmas night which was perfect, because then we could wake up at her house the next day and have an extra full day with her. Lots of play and fun happened. Kim wasn't home when we got there, but Z knew whose house she was at! After looking for the gata, she also looked around and seemed confused that Kim wasn't there! She was also really, really excited when we got to the house.

Grandpa and Betty showered her with gifts (and us too!) and Z had fun playing with Grandpa. Usually we meet up with all the family and there are other kids to entertain her, but this time Grandpa and Nana got a lot of special attention, which was fun to see.

Then we took to Mimi's where Z decided that instead of eat Christmas Dinner, she'd rather run a 104 fever for 3 days straight. We took her to an after care clinic and finally the ER. Not exactly a good time.

I don't know who looked more upset - Z at feeling so bad, or Matt at seeing his chicken so sick! She pulled through (with lots of Motrin and Tylenol) and still managed to have a great time playing with her cousin!

The college and youth ministry really, really slow down over Decemeber so we had a great time having Daddy all to ourselves most days. But I guess since it's the start of a new semester, we'll let students have him back.
