SISTERS!!!!

We're more than halfway through (maybe... I'm actually not betting on it) and we just found out that we are having another little girl. One of my favorite things about having a girl first was that if we had a boy, then it'd be fun cause we hadn't had a boy yet...but if we had another girl, that meant that Z would have a sister and that is incredible! There is nothing in the world like being a sister...

I am so excited about this news! Not only does this mean that Z's rockin' pea coat gets to be recycled down again, but it means that Z is going to be a BIG SISTER! She and her Aunt Kim can have long conversations about how it isn't fair that #2 wants to read her diary and steal her clothes and hang out with her friends. And me and #2 can talk about how great it is to be the little sister! :) Having a sister is, truly, one of my -favorite- things in life and I can't wait to watch the relationship develop between the two of them.

The sonogram was scheduled for 7:45a (seriously, who knew offices opened at that early and would even make a pregnant lady get there by then) so it was wicked early and Matt and I barely talked on the way there. It was so interesting to watch our little girl on the screen! It was much different than with Zoe's. At Zoe's sonogram, she was bouncing all over the place and the sonographer was having trouble catching her to take anatomy shots. But this time, #2 was just chilling (probably SLEEPING) with her hand up in the air. For a long chunk of the sonogram she had her mouth open (Daddy's little girl...) and was just floating around peacefully. She was modest and made it difficult to find out the sex, but she couldn't help me rolling over and it put her in a good position to find out. I'll admit, when she said, "Yup, that's defintely a girl..." I let the word, "yess!" slip out of my mouth. But I truly would have been excited either way. I just LOVE LITTLE GIRLS! God could give me 5, 10, 20 little girls and I would be so excited for each one of them. I love little boys too... but I think I'd need a bit more of a learning curve to raise a boy... never had a brother people, and I've never been a boy either.

Something I also noticed right off the bat at this sonogram was that this baby LOOKS different than Z. Granted, it's 2-D but first of all, Z was l-o-n-g. I remember thinking that I had no idea she could be so long, and this baby wasn't as long. Also, this baby was a CHUBBS! Her belly is so big! Maybe she was also feasting on my not too long before eaten Kashi Island Vanilla cereal, but dang, what big round belly! Also, her face looks a lot different than Z's. Z looked... like a chipmunk. Or a monkey. Or something. Her profile was so round and even then I think you could tell she had an underbite, but this baby's profile looks different. Here is a comparsion. This first one is of #2 and the second picture is of Z at roughly the same "age." They both have their hands up in the air. Poor cramped chickens.

In other news, I'm getting huge and I keep forgetting about how small your stomach gets and how when you eat it takes up lung space. Bummer! I am feeling better after all the allergies, then full fledged cold that happened upon me. I spent a night crying in bed like a little baby but Mateo took good care of me and we also bought some Mucinex. I am so thankful for medicine and healthcare. Truly.

OH! We also went and toured the hospital where I'll be delivering #2. "Wait..." you may be thinking, "but Mandy..didn't you give birth there once before?" Ha. Well, yes, I did and I barely remember my experience of the building at all. Like, who knew there was a spiral staircase leading up to the floor where you have babies. And who knew the waiting room was so giant? (This makes me feel slightly better about how long people stayed to meet Z... although, I still feel bad. Way to go troopers!) And I didn't know that I had a bathroom in my delivery room, complete with a big shower. I didn't know how it was arranged and I also didn't know a lot of the stuff available to me and/or stuff that was allowed. It was all helpful information. Matt was probably bored out of his mind being haunted by horrible memories of my being there...but it was really, really good for me to SEE where I would be going and to hear about the procedure once I get there. I took extra care to pay attention to what to do if your delivery is scheduled (as in, an induction) and how that differs from a spontaneous labor (going into labor on your own...fat chance, really!).

We may (or may not) have a name for little girl the second, but we aren't going to tell anyone until she is born. It's my fault..blame me... but doesn't it sound nice to come greet our baby and hear us say, "yay! meet so and so..."

Sisters!! :)

uhm, p.s. - why are me and kim always on the same side of photos!? creepy!
