As of right now, Z loves have a sister! Here are some cute sister things that go on around our house:
-In the morning when I get Z, if I don't have Ana - the first words out of her mouth are, "where sister?"
- If Z decides she wants to read books/play in another room and Ana is awake and in her chair, Z grabs her hand and says, "Come on sister!"
- If Ana is crying, especially in the car, Z looks over and says, "why are you crying?" or "sister, what matter?" and our personal favorite, when Z hears her cry she almost immediately starts shushing and bouncing her own body in response.
- Z loves to give kisses and hugs. Her hugs can sometimes get pretty intense, but I think they are still well intentioned right now.
- If we put Ana down for tummy time or just lay her down anywhere in general, Z lays down right beside her and sucks her fingers and stares at her.
- If Ana isn't in our room or being held, we get constant updates on her status: "sister a-WAKE!" "sister sleeping...shhh.." "sister crying?" - the first is always yelled, the second is always whispered and the third is usually always a question.
Ana isn't quite social smiling yet, but we're betting it will be here soon. The other day we were talking about what we think her personality will be like. Actually we were saying that it's impossible to know and Matt described her now as being "gentle" and "calm." I hadn't thought about the first one, and when I heard him say it I thought, yeah - Ana IS gentle. She is gentle about her crying, and she gently drifts off to sleep...that was such a perfect word to describe her! All during the day she is so ridiculously easy/predictable. Some nights after we put Z to bed she will fuss some and not be easily comforted, but I sometimes think that is because Matt holds her more in the evenings and by then she is super tired and just wants to be near the milk! But every night she gets a bath around 11p and is asleep by 12p and sleeps until 5a. Then she nurses, and goes back to bed and sleeps until 8. She also naps every day, on her own, during Zoe's nap. Seriously... I was blessed with an easy baby. Thank you! Thank you Jesus!
Here she is helping me with the laundry:
And Miss Z got a kid's table for her birthday from us. I had to stalk craigslist for weeks to finally get ahold of an IKEA one. She LOVES it and really likes to read/color/eat snacks at her table. When we got it it already had marker markings on it and I was a little dissapointed but then within the first 5 minutes of owning it, Z somehow had obtained one of my journal markers and had already colored 3 big purple lines. I then felt instant apathy about all previous markings.
This isn't where the table is now, but here she is the day we first got it:
I also can't believe people read this blog! Im just talking about our kids. It's like I have a big open space to just blab blab blab about our children. I try to keep up with it mainly because I LOVE reading old posts... helpful in pregnancy (when will the puking end?) and to look back and see little Z. I was very very terrible about blogging when Z was a wee one, so I'm trying to be better with Ana.
Thanks for finding our little family interesting. :)
